Spring News from the Second Grade Knights

The second graders are very excited about all the upcoming Springtime events!  We have just completed our 5 A Day Health and Nutrition Program, and many of the students are looking forward to receiving prizes for their excellent participation. The best prize is to be healthy and fit for life!

Standardized testing is completed. The results of these tests will not ne reflected on report cards. Daily work, assessmants, and homework assignments are used to determine report card grades. For the second graders, these test scores will provide a baseline to monitor future academic progress and expectations.

Our class has participated in Lenten reflections and the Stations of the Cross  during Lent. We will celebrate a mini Passover meal with the third graders in preparation for the Three Days, and Easter.

Practice for First Communion will begin after Spring Break. A meeting for parents will be held on Tuesday, April 15th, at 6:30 PM.  At this meeting we will review catechesis for First Communion and discuss necessary preparations for the liturgy which will take place on Sunday, May 4th, at 1:30 PM.

Most second graders have reached their Accelerated Reader goal for this quarter, and will also earn their Book It rewards.  Congratulations! Our next book reports will be dioramas, so save your shoe boxes!

In Math, continue to practice basic addition and subtraction facts, even as we forge ahead with multiplication and measurement. Practice is the key to success!
