This is an exciting quarter for Science! We have learned all about air temperature, air pressure, and wind. We learned about the Earth, Moon, and our Solar System. The ever popular "Space City" project was completed on Friday. The third grade classroom was covered in space junk on Monday. The students decided what "junk" to use and what they could share with other students. Tuesday was the day of construction and glue down. They also had to decide which pieces they wanted covered in foil and which pieces were going to be painted white. Wednesday was paint day. Everything that did not get foil had to painted white. Thursday the students wrote a paper naming their city, its location, tell what the buildings were, what they were used for, and why they put them in their city. In Social Studies we will be learning about Washington D.C. and its sister city Dakar, Senegal. WE will also learn about local government. We will also explore the Oregon Trail, immigration, and the Great Migration after the Civil War. In Math we are multiplying three and four digit numbers by two and three digit numbers. We are reading "Ramona Quimby, Age 8". We just finished reading "The Secret Land of the Past" and drew a picture book for their book report. Pronouns, adverbs, and prepositions are on the menu for English this quarter. In Religion we will see that the Church respects all people and that the Church is worldwide. We will also see that we are God's holy people and that the Kingdom of God continues to grow.
