What is

Through the Business Education Success Team, schools and businesses are joined in partnerships which enable them to share personnel and resources, and which encourage them to develop innovative programs and activities for the students. The Alliance currently supports B.E.S.T. Partnerships by publicizing successful initiatives, promoting workforce reform through "B.E.S.T. Program of Distinction" and recognizing successful teams through an annual awards presentation.

The strength of this program lies in the dedication and innovation of participating businesses and schools, with each partnership developing according to participants; unique interest and capabilities. Area businesses of all kinds are encouraged to participate, and wherever appropriate, more than one business can be matched with a school.

The Mini-Bank in Action!
Seventh and Eighth Grade Mini-Bank Officers Assist the Younger Students in Making Deposits
Some of the Activities First Security and MQH School have going on
  • Mini Bank -- First Security interviews and "hires" 7th and 8th grade students to run a bank office out of the library. The positions hired are one manager, two tellers, two to three marketing people. They run every aspect of the bank with some help and guidance from bank representatives, Ms. Flach, and Mrs. Beringer. We meet every Thursday morning, and students are encouraged to open savings accounts and make deposits. We usually have some sort of promotion running to encourage student participation.

  • Student of the Month -- Sponsored by First Security: Each grade level votes on who they would like to see selected for the "Student of the Month" for the grade. Each student writes one positive comment about the selected student. These comments are posted with a picture of the student and displayed at the First Security Trust Bank Main Office each month. First Security awards those students selected with a ribbon and a gift certificate.

  • Honors Program -- Students who achieve a high academic standard are recognized by the Honors Program.
